In honor of this Mother’s Day, I scheduled an heirloom motherhood session with my sweet friend, Nikki Santerre. It was such a gift to have this moment in time with my littles captured.
Life is fleeting and my kids are growing so fast. The last time we had formal photos taken was last winter for my brand shoot. Duke was only 11 months old and he definitely changes the quickest! He went from an infant to a little boy in the past year!
Nikki perfectly captured the endless joy and energy of my kiddos in this season! She made them feel comfortable right off the bat, and was such a natural with them considering she has a little boy and girl of her own!
We chose Virginia House for our photos because of the expansive gardens. The kids loved exploring all of the nooks and crannies of this incredible property! I’m pretty sure Brooklyn thought she was a princess adventuring around a castle, and Duke was fascinated by the water features. It was a magical morning!
One of my tricks for getting the kids to cooperate for the first half of the photos was the promise of a picnic at the end! One of our favorite things to do at home is lay out a blanket in the grass and eat lunch. What a perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with a kid-friendly picnic in the gardens!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you beautiful moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers and moms-to-be! And to those who are praying for the day they are a mother or for those who have lost a mother or child, my heart is with you and I am thinking of you today.
